Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Made for Koreans ("Made for Koreans", "we", "us", or "our") operates a Korean-language website that publishes an events directory and news briefs for Korean communities living in New Zealand. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It is written to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).
By using our website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information we collect
We aim to collect only the information we need to run the site. The categories are:
- Account information. If you create an account or sign in, our authentication provider collects details such as your name and email address, and (where you choose to use them) sign-in identifiers from third-party login providers. We do not see or store your password.
- Usage and device information. When you visit the site we automatically collect standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, the pages you view, and the approximate region derived from your IP address.
- Information you send us. If you contact us by email or otherwise provide information voluntarily, we keep what you send so we can respond.
We do not collect payment card details. We do not run advertising networks, and we do not sell your personal information.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the website and your account;
- display and personalise content such as events and news briefs;
- understand how the site is used so we can improve it;
- keep the site secure and diagnose technical problems; and
- respond to your enquiries and, where you have opted in, send you updates.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions (such as keeping you signed in) and for analytics that help us understand aggregate site usage. Our analytics are used to improve the site, not to build advertising profiles.
You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable cookies, some parts of the site may not function properly.
Service providers and disclosure
We share information only as needed to run the service, with providers who process it on our behalf under their own privacy and security obligations. We use providers in the following categories:
- Authentication and account management (for example, our sign-in provider);
- Analytics and error logging, to understand aggregate usage and diagnose problems;
- Hosting and content delivery, to run and serve the website.
If you choose to support us through an external donation service (for example, Buy Me a Coffee), your payment is handled entirely by that provider under its own privacy policy; we do not receive your card details.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect our legal rights, or to prevent harm. We do not otherwise sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Overseas storage
Some of our service providers store and process information on servers located outside New Zealand. Where information is held overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by comparable safeguards, as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Account information is kept while your account is active; if you close your account, we delete or anonymise information that we no longer need to retain.
Security
We adopt appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, disclosure, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children's privacy
The website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Links to other websites
Our briefs and event listings may link to third-party websites, including New Zealand and Korean government and news sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made prominent on the site. Your continued use of the website after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
